Windmill Weekend 9th & 10th September 2023

Come and join the fun

Each year North Leverton Windmill holds a family fun weekend to co-inside with Heritage weekend in September. You want to miss this amazing weekend so book the dates in your diary, 9th & 10th September 2023. We open on both days at 12:00 noon and there really is something for everyone. From hawking, shire horses (Sunday) fun dog shows and alpaca walks.

See the windmill in action, doing what it does best, making fresh flour which will be on sale, but also our ‘chefs’ will make dough so you can create your own pizza and they will cook it in our rustic pizza oven on site for you to enjoy.

Our old friends, Madam Crepe, Ice Cream Tri-cycle and The Bees Knees will also be there once again, and of course a burger or hot dog will be available. Windmill cakes, tea, and coffee served from the newly re-furbished railway hut.

There will be children’s entrainment; hook a duck, strike, soft archery, face painting and giant inflatable slide.

We have the arts and crafts market.

Refreshments and a bar will be available all day.

Wheels at the Windmill is on again, and we are expecting a grand display of stationary engines, vintage tractors, lorries and cars of all descriptions.

On Saturday evening, there will be local live music at the mill with 4 live bands, interspersed with DJ Jono on the decks spinning some great tunes. Don’t forget your deck chair or picnic blanket, lots of space to sit, relax, enjoy and watch the world go by and enjoy a family day out.

Free parking is available just off Mill Lane, and entrance to Mill Yard is free, but we will be charging £2.50 per adult (kids under 16 are free) into the field to contribute to the extra costs incurred this year.

For further information contact us via Facebook, telephone 01427 880254 or email info@north-leverton-windmill.co.uk All proceeds will go to North Leverton Windmill Trust the ensure the doors remain open, the sails keep turning and this iconic windmill is able to welcome visitors for at least another 200 years.

2020 - Lockdown Projects - Visitor Centre and Railway Hut

Even though the windmill was closed to visitors during the lockdown, it continued to mill throughout this time and supplied, local shops, nursing homes, pubs, bakers and individuals operating a click and collect service.

We were also fortunate to secure LEADER funding via Nottingham County Council and DEFRA and were awarded a grant for a very exciting project.

The warehouse was converted into a Visitor Centre. This education hub provides an insight into how the windmill works, detailed drawings of the windmill, historical documents and other memorabilia. A working model of the windmill and live streaming of the windmill in operation can be viewed for those less mobile and unable to visit the upper floors. Other interactive displays have been installed.

The railway hut has been transformed – it is now a fully restored amenity space that is available for visitors to enjoy and houses the windmill shop.

Please contact us if you would like to enquire about using the windmill grounds and our newly created amenities for your event. A very different and unique location for meetings, children’s parties, club outings and a fantastic backdrop for wedding photos.

The railway hut and visitor centre was officially launched and opened on 11th September 2021.
